    Snoring - Some Simple Remedies

    Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

As a Doctor and a Health Coach, I find that many of my patients and clients ask me about snoring. It usually isn’t THEIR snoring they’re concerned about, but rather their spouse’s! So in the interest of a good night’s sleep for the “non-snoring” population, here are some tips to help our beloved “afflicted” ones:

I’ve found snoring to be caused by a few factors, and lifestyle modification is the answer to many of them:

    1. Eating too Weird Science at night
    2. Eating too much late in the day, at night before bed, and/or eating too many carbohydrates (pastas, breads, starches, etc.)
    3. Sleep and exercise go hand-in-hand and if neither is balanced, UFO more likely to snore. tax lawyer snoring can cause a “vicious cycle” because if you’re not getting enough sleep or you’re only getting a poor quality of sleep you’ll be less motivated to exercise because they are simply too tired; and if you haven’t exercised, you’ll be less likely to get into a deep, restful low mortgage rate refinancing of sleep to catch up.
    4. Exposure to tobacco, especially commercial cigarettes, notice I said exposure… particularly when combined with the other “risk factors” I’ve mentioned above, can increase the chances for snoring. I’ve observed that even second hand smoke can increase incidences of snoring!

The GOOD news is snoring can be greatly reduced or eliminated with a few simple lifestyle changes! Hooray!

    May I suggest:

    1. Start a simple exercise plan each day… walk for 15-30 minutes, the more rigorous, the better…brisk, fast paced walking is better than running, as it causes less damage to the body.
    2. Eat smaller meals and eat regularly throughout the day. Don’t bunch up all your food, your calories, for night time. This will produce good results for your waistline, as well!
    3. Get to sleep at a regular time and create some habit to help you do that. For example, if I wanted to be asleep by 10 PM each night I would:
    a. Turn off the TV by 9:00 PM (record your favorite shows and watch them tomorrow!)
    b. Drink some valerian or chamomile tea to help soothe your body and mind and ready them for sleep.
    c. Read a little bit in bed.
    d. Exercise during the day, which can help you fall asleep the fastest!
    4. Reduce or eliminate tobacco usage.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any known vitamins or supplements that will help stop snoring, however there is a new gadget out that might help you eliminate it. Check out the Nasailine Snoring Device. It comes in medium and large sizes. This unique device was innovatively designed for optimal nostril expansion, without discomfort, to help us sleep better naturally, breathe easier, snore less, and get relief from both allergy and cold symptoms. It can be used to improve physical activity by improving air intake.

Snoring should not be confused with sleep apnea, which is when someone’s Viagra “skips” or “pauses” during sleep. If you notice this to be the case, you should consult with a sleep doctor or sleep expert. You can read more about sleep apnea at sleepapnea.org sleepapnea.org

The Top 10 Steps to DeStress

    Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Do you feel tense meridia diet pill anxious at work? Do your co-workers and/or boss make you crazy? Is your personal life less than blissful? If so, you’ve got stress. If you’re like most people you’ve sought refuge from this situation by trying a quick fix or two like calling a friend, walking the dog, or going away for the weekend in an attempt to escape it all. While Lonely? Try searching for somebody nice. strategies may serve as temporary diversions, nothing in your life changes when you return to your routine.

Stress is internal, which explains why it can wreak havoc on your health. It feels awful…it’s the sense that you’re not in control. The easiest way to mitigate its effect is to take charge of the one and only thing you have the power to control…YOU, and let go of what you can’t control. The beauty of this recipe is that by taking control of your life, external or outside things will change in response to your internal changes. Here are 10 steps to destress for your present and future:

    1. Heal yourself.

Dr. Bruce McEwen, who wrote The End of Stress As We Know It, suggests that eliminating stress comes right from your grandmother’s journal. He says the most effective steps you can take are the simplest: exercise, a healthy diet, regular sleep, moderate to minimal alcohol intake, and no smoking. This, he notes, is the most sophisticated, Denbydo to the minute, cutting edge science available!

    2. Get organized.

Physical clutter reminds us of things that need to be done and that’s stressful. Remove your physical clutter and you’ll eradicate your mental clutter, plus you’ll feel energized. Please go to topten.org/public/AG/AG306.html for a simple organizing solution that will work on any space.

    3. Set boundaries.

Boundaries act as a filter to keep you safe from the hurtful behavior of others while allowing in the love, support and nurturing actions we all need. Set your boundaries by: (a) determining what others cannot do to you or in your presence and (b) sharing this information respectfully with anyone who is stepping over one of your boundaries.

    4. Take time for yourself.

Put together a list of all the things you love to do but haven’t regularly made time to do. Put your list in priority order and enter the top five to seven items into your daily calendar. Your list may include things as simple as journaling, Pinto a great book, taking a bubble bath, yoga, etc. You’ll be more successful getting to these activities when you give them a time and place on your calendar.

    5. Be positive.

William James, the father of modern psychology said, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that man can alter his life simply by altering his attitude of mind.” In other words, what you say and what you tell yourself impact the present and create your future. Love yourself and use the power of positive words, pleasing thoughts and affirming beliefs to live the life you want to live.

    6. Work in a career you love.

If you’re like most people, you spend the majority of your waking hours at work. You’ll know you’re in the right profession when: you wake up anxious to go to work, you want to do your best daily, and you know your work is important.

    7. Surround yourself with a supportive community.

You are who you spend time with. Hang out with people who love and accept you just the way you are, are interested in you (not what you can do for them), lift you up (not wear you down), solve problems quickly, don’t gossip or complain, and know how to have fun. Anything is possible with the right support.

    8. Learn to say, “No.”

We’ve all been influenced by people in our life who tell us we should do this or we ought to do that. As a result, we may end up living a life that others have decided for us versus living the life we want. So, the next time you think of something you ought to do or someone else suggests you should do, take a breath and ask yourself if it’s something you want to do. If not, just say, “no” or “no thank you.” When you say no to things you don’t care to do, you are saying yes to you and this will free up your time and energy for the things you choose to do. Bottom line - you’ll be happier.

    9. Zap tolerations.

A toleration is something that irritates you and drains your energy because it needs to be done, fixed, removed, or changed. If you’re like most people you may be tolerating 100 or more things! Put together a list of all the things that bug you, e.g. a dripping faucet, money concerns, your weight, shopping and running errands, not enough time, computer files out of control, your hair, a room that needs to be painted, etc. When your list is complete, group like items and see if one solution will eliminate multiple tolerations. For example, if you have piles of clothing in each bedroom, dirty windows and dust bunnies on your floor, hiring a housekeeper will zap all three tolerations. Line up a housekeeper, today. Then, commit to spending a chunk of time each week to zap your other tolerations. If you have a toleration that you don’t have the skill or know-how to fix, consider calling an expert or seek out a skilled professional to trade services with.

    10. Get your needs met.

A “need” is not an option, it is something you must have to function fully. It is differentiated from a “want” in that a want is optional. Unmet needs can drive you to distraction and worse. Determine what needs you have that aren’t being met, if any, and then take the appropriate action to get them fulfilled. Example: If you’ve taken a big hit and are going through a career transition, ask a good friend to call you two or three times a week to check in with you and give you support. Other options include calling your own voice mail and leaving supportive messages or hiring a coach who specializes in career transitions. When you acknowledge and satisfy your needs, you will be free to focus on other areas of your life.

If you want to be happier and more successful, focus on the things you have the power to control.

Self Defense - A Walk in the Park

    Friday, September 19th, 2008

Back in the good old days families used to go to city and state Georgia Lemon Laws for a wide variety of entertainment and recreation. Parks were a big draw for picnics, cookouts, Frisbee games, softball, badminton, drinking, gossiping, and catching up-just all manner of fun-good clean fun. Back in the good old days! The big thing was you could always feel safe at a park.

Over the weekend, there was an article about a Colorado Springs man who wouldn’t think of bringing his family to the park without his trusty firearm.

Assaults on the homeless who have taken to making city parks their home, speeding in the parks, shootings, crime-prone juveniles, drug deals, gangs, fights and prostitution have made city parks in Colorado Springs “family unfriendly” for sure. Many more would say downright dangerous-vaguely reminiscent of ten years ago.

In 1996 things got so bad in city parks that a Mobile Command Post roamed from park to park making the rounds to re-establish a life insurance cover presence. Park police officers and regular patrol officers were patrolling parks in pairs to help rid those parks of unsavory elements.

To a large extent they were successful until……that’s right you guessed it-budgetary cutbacks, a shift in emphasis and new responsibilities made patrolling parks a very Insidemilitary priority.

Police asked that neighborhoods get involved and start assuming more of the burden. They have done a great job but they can only go so far.

I am not picking on my beloved Colorado Springs either. You can change the name to virtually any city in the country-the problem is the same everywhere-some worse than others.

Now with more Creditproblems cuts on the horizon and gangs growing like wildfire, people who want to take a ‘Walk in the Park’ had better arm themselves with a pepper spray or stun gun to protect themselves and their family.

Please Note that even though pepper spray is legal in all 50 states, some states and cities have restrictions. Some states and cities have restrictions on stun guns. Check with your local police department. Literally thousands of police departments carry and use pepper spray and stun guns. Why wouldn’t you?

Does What Your Medical Doctor Tell You Make Sense And Is There More To The Story?

    Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Have you ever gone Latchingon the doctor because something just is not right hard drive recovery service you were told it was in your head? Did you ever have a rash all over your face and you were told by a doctor Maryland Lemon Laws it was contact dermatitis and given some cream and sent home? Or are you a woman in her 30s trying to conceive a child and having trouble? Are you happy with what the answers you are given by your M.D.? If you are satisfied then this article is most likely not for you. If you are intrigued or frustrated enough to find out the solution to a problem and not just the symptom, then keep reading.

Choices. Isn’t America about choices? That should extend to our medical care beyond that major decision made for us in the 70s. Medical doctors go to school to heal people, right? So why don’t they go after the problem and not the symptom?

Alternative medicine has a different philosophy than traditional or modern medicine. Alternative medicine has just as many good doctors as traditional medicine. They also have just as many bad doctors. It is still up to you to choose what is best for you. Don’t let yourself be a victim. Take an active role in your personal health care. If you have a red rash that is unexplained to go to the traditional doctor, it makes sense. What does not make sense is when you are told you have “contact dermatitis”. Do you know what that literally means? Something you came in contact with caused swelling de Loys’ ape the skin (dermis). The suffix “itis” means swelling or inflammation. Did you really need to spend $150 for a doctor to tell you that your skin was inflamed because of something you came in contact with? Consider that alternative medicine can help you find out what it is that is causing it, not just treat the inflammation.

A lot of women in debt advice line 30s are having difficulties conceiving children these days. There are a ton of theories as to why and this article will not address those theories. This article will encourage you to look beyond what traditional medicine has to offer, drugs, drugs and more drugs. The first drugs are to prevent pregnancy or to treat rough cycles, which we take for years. Then the next drugs are to force our bodies into creating more eggs which had put on suspension and we end up with multiple pregnancies if the fertility drugs work. If they don’t work, then what? Research, which traditional medicine relies so heavily on to cite cases, has not been thoroughly developed yet so we don’t know what the long term ramifications are so we get pushed into taking these. Then, when menopause hits we are given more drugs to get over the symptoms of hot flashes and moodiness or encouraged to remove the organs that are showing the symptoms and problems. Then when we get into our golden years we end up with cancers that are “unexplained”. Really? Is anyone really paying attention?

Alternative medicine can treat the symptoms from the beginning too but the difference is that more tests can be done to get a real health analysis using tests traditional medicine does not use. But it goes that one more vital step that traditional medicine does not. Alternative medicine can be a very useful tool in learning what allergies exist, what potential future problems could arise and how to treat them with a natural healthy ingredient.

Often proponents of traditional medicine say that even bad stuff can be natural, which is true. Anything misused can be bad for you and that includes chemical medicine. This article is to encourage the reader to explore the alternative world enough to give natural medicine a fair shot. Educate yourself and make an appointment to see a naturopath to get your answers to your questions.

Take charge of your own life. Be educated in your decisions about your health care. Don’t just accept what the doctor says because of the white coat. Ask questions. Stand up for yourself. Explore the alternative world of medicine!

It’s coming. The year 2012 is coming right Desperateforattention us and we can neither dodge it nor stop it from coming. What does this time really mean? Is the world really going to end? What can we expect in these few years we have left?

For clarity, the year 2012 is based off of the Mayan Long Count calendar at a time the calendar itself actually resets. The Mayan calendar is based on cycles and had several ways of recording the date. It is known as the most accurate calendar the world has ever known and itself predicts minor events in Maya society like new kings, crop cycles, and the like as well as the more apocalyptic things we’re familiar with. The calendar ending would actually mean an old cycle Monty Python and a new cycle begins.

Alternate news sites and literature out there mention that the Earth is going to ascend to the 4th dimension at or around 2012. This is part of the earth cleansing itself as well as trying to move to a higher plane itself. It’s rumored this event has almost happened numerous times in the past but was missed. During this cleansing period lots of natural disasters happen as a way for the earth to renew itself. Often cited are the Great Flood and the fall of Atlantis as times ascension was coming, but missed, because the world population wasn’t ready for it.

Some digging into recent astronomical news will also reveal that the earth is to fully enter a photon accident compensation claim around 2012. No one is alive today that was here during the last time the earth did this and it is rumored this will also cause worldwide disasters and the possibility of high radiation. The photon belt is also a sometimes mentioned cause of the earth’s pole shift that is to happen in 2012. The pole shift is possibly a reason for the ice caps melting in the North Pole right now as well.

There are many ideas, speculations, and agendas out in motion right now preparing for 2012. For this reason it is hard to get a pin point idea of what exactly will happen. They all agree something WILL happen, however, which should be reason enough to read up, study, and take note of the world around you. The signs will become more obvious in every day life and even in subtle ways such as what donate cars to charity come out, what mainstream news channels air, and even political agendas. Pay attention. This is not a time to be left uninformed.
